Seven years ago, I was four stone overweight, struggling with severe anxiety and depression, and had no idea how to manage my weight or mental health. I knew something had to change.
After reflecting deeply, I recognised that my job in the hospital was a major contributor to my anxiety and low mood. I was fortunate to be able to reduce my hours and, at the age of 38, return to university to study Exercise and Nutrition as Medicine. That decision changed my life.
Through my degree, I gained the knowledge and tools to understand how my body works — especially how hormones drive hunger, stress, and energy. I learned how to support both my physical and mental wellbeing through movement, nutrition, and lifestyle changes.
Today, I'm at a healthy weight, feel strong in my body, and continue to navigate the challenges of perimenopause with confidence and curiosity — especially through the strength I’ve found in weight training.
I created Essential Health to support like-minded women who are feeling lost, overwhelmed, or stuck — just like I once was. My mission is to guide, educate, and empower you to take control of your health, build resilience, and feel great in your body again.
